The Best of The Mercer Report 2016

I launched this site early in 2016, and as a result Donald Trump was elected President. Well, not really. What really happened was I learned a lot about websites, made a few mistakes, tried out a bunch of stuff, and got a great education along the way. My quirky, inconstant posts have built a small following that I am very thankful for. Really, I'm thankful for you, right now, reading this. It means a lot to me that people took time out of the year 2016 to read the Mercer Report.

To my great chagrin I've Called the Election got the most hits of any post.

I liked that piece, I felt that it was the right way to understand a President that I did not think had the moves to get elected. But I followed the stats too closely and forgot the rule. The most likeable candidate always wins. So all I have to say is I blew it, and it's embarrassing that this is the most popular post.

No surprise, Why I Didn't Go To Star Wars came in at a close number two. Star Wars is just plain popular, so when you go after it you get hits. Seriously, people still hit me for writing that one.

#3 Website Development and Relationship News! I think the somewhat click batey headline boosted this one. But I still like the idea, so if anyone wants to be set up by an algorithm I'll get working on it.

How I Know The NDP Won't Win Here is one Election that I predicted correctly, with some witty commentary to boot.

A March Through Washington I liked my time in D.C. and this post reminds me of it. It also reminds me of my hat which you see in two of the pictures. I, unfortunately, left it in the Senate during one of my visits. :(

And lastly, this is not technically legal, but it's my blog named after me, so from New Years last year, here is:

The New Liberal Hair Products Equality Act.

I wrote this to point out what I see as a flawed thought process that goes into making laws. I feel that this has been borne out this year, as the west continues to accept governments that shape society, instead of allowing people the freedom to live their lives as they so choose. Some times I'm hopeful, sometimes I think we shall go into the darkness.

2017 will not have the shocks that this two thousand and sixteenth year since the coming of the Lord has contained, but I think that once a rotation of the earth has once more occurred we shall see whether we will cycle on, or step forth into a brave new world.
