Yesterday we went to our friends the Teichribs to help them get the last stuff done to be ready to open their strawberry farm this weekend. Weeding in the hot sun is hard work, but it felt really good to come home exhausted, having done some meaningful work. If you want berries, they have the best ones. The few I popped in my mouth were heavenly.

If anyone happens to think that the curse is not in full force, let me tell you that each strawberry is brought to you by a literal drop of sweat, and a sharp thistle yanked from the earth.

“Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”

Genesis 3 17-19

We had almost all the weeds gone by the time we left, but I'm sure more are coming as I write.
